From Mike's Desk:
It’s Spring Gardening Time In The High Deserts of Arizona!
April – May is the dominant planting season for warm season vegetables in Globe-Miami, Arizona, and neighboring communities. (Warm season vegetables are tomatoes, peppers, okra, beans, corn, squash, melons and cucumbers.) Let’s get growing!
If you want to raise poultry as a hobby or for fresh eggs, Spring is also a good time to get started. Have you tried home-grown eggs yet. In just five months, most pullet chicks will be full grown and laying eggs. Turkeys, geese, ducks and guineas are also now available. Orders are always gladly taken.
My bare root trees, potted in containers in late January, are now leafing out and rooting rapidly in the containers. They are ready to plant. Let me show you how to transplant and grow them.
If landscaping or upgrading your property is on your mind, we carry an extensive array of vines, hedge plants, evergreens, ground covers, annuals and perennials.
In the deserts, shade is VERY important for your comfort. We carry a large assortment of trees suitable for shade.
Because water is a precious commodity in desert environments, we carry an expanding assortment of desert hardy plants. Desert plants like ocotillos, palo verdes, mesquites, desert willows, Texas sages, etc. all do well in our climate with little water once they are established.
Besides plants and poultry, we carry soil amendments, potting soils, insecticides, fertilizers, herbicides and a wide assortment of vegetable, flowering and grass seeds.
Come on up to see us anytime. Call 928-425-6004 for directions. We are open seven days a week.
